JUNE 27, 2015

SATURDAY:  Sailed open boat this morning, don't ask as I am still fuming, with a small group of anglers. Had good fishing on the 1st drift with Bill Fisher aka Billfish hauling in a hefty 8.5 lb fluke. Not long after that, Victor Ranawat brought his 5.8 lb fluke onto the deck. Thought we were in for some red hot fishing, but things slowed down for the rest of the morning with a few more keepers and some short action. It was a nice day, a bit chilly, but no rain, calm seas and decent fishing, a day even a of NY novice would have enjoyed.  The afternoon we had a charter with Firstrade Securities of NY and 41 of the 50 anglers showed up ready to go fishing, not hampered by the forecast of rain or wind. We had a decent afternoon until the wind picked up in late afternoon and conditions were less than favorable, but we managed a few keepers and a bit of sashimi for those aboard.

JUNE 29 UPDATE-WOW!!

Sunday morning was chilly and rainy, but sunny skies prevailed by early afternoon, but still not a lot of anglers aboard. Fluking was back to same old, same old, plenty of shorts and a few keepers mixed in, with pool fish 4 lb.

Monday morning was the BEST FLUKE TRIP THIS SEASON!!! After a slow start to the morning, we hit the mother lode. The hot drifts started with Joe Zisa bringing in a monster 10.2 lb fluke, shortly therafter, Abrina landed a 9.5 lb beauty. Within the next hour, we had 8 more big fluke between 4 to 6 lbs. It reminded me of the 80's when we sailed out of Sheepshead Bay and would fish an area we named "Valley of the Giants".  As we all know all good things will come to an end, and they did. The afternoon was dominated by shorts, many of them "almost keepers" and a couple of keepers at the end of the day.

FRIDAY, JUNE 26 UPDATE

Beautiful day on the water today, sailed with a small group of anglers on the morning trip and had short action as well as a few keepers.

This afternoon was a private charter for  DSM Food Group for their 3rd annual fishing outing aboard the Dorothy B. A good time was had by all  and Joe was king with the biggest fluke of the trip. Hope to see you folks again next year.

Weather looks fine for tomorrow, so come on down as we will be at the dock and ready to go fishing. Join us on the days adventure.
